We are thrilled to announce that MDQ Academy has officially started an Honor Society chapter!
The Honor Society recognizes students who excel in their studies and demonstrate strong leadership and community spirit. Joining this prestigious organization provides students with the opportunity to:
Be acknowledged for their hard work
Develop leadership skills
Engage in community service
Apply for scholarships and awards
Connect with peers and professionals

Honor Society Introduction
The Honor Society is a prestigious organization that recognizes and celebrates students for their academic achievements, leadership skills, and commitment to community service. Membership provides students with opportunities to enhance their educational experience through scholarships, networking, and various service projects. By joining the Honor Society, students not only gain recognition for their hard work but also contribute to a positive and motivated school environment.
The application for Honor society will be available in December and due on February 14th. Students will have until then to create their application portfolio. Applicants will be assessed on the following components:
Academics
Leadership
Service
Character

Eligibility Requirements for Students:
1.Academic Criteria:
Maintain a minimum GPA or average score based on grade level given below
Maintain good attendance
No disciplinary concerns
Leadership:
Participation in student leadership roles
Class President, Vice President, or Officer
Club Leader (president or officer of any school club like Debate, Drama, Science, Reading, Quran)
Student Council Member
Giving Khutbah or Public speech at school level at least once
Team Captain (for sports teams like football, basketball, etc.)
Peer Mentor (helping classmates with their studies)
Tutoring (helping younger students with their studies)
Event Organizer (organizing fundraisers, school events, iftars, halaqas)
Volunteer Group Leader (organizing community service projects)
Youth Group Leader (masjid or community youth groups)
Scout Leader (Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts leader)
Camp Counselor (helping at summer camps)
Community Sports Coach
Classroom Leader (taking charge during group projects or helping the teacher)
School Event Planner (leading efforts for school-wide activities)
Advocate (starting or leading a campaign like anti-bullying or environmental efforts)
Service:
Engagement in community service or school-based service activities
Volunteering at School Events (like sports games or fundraising events)
Helping in the Library (organizing books)
Assisting Teachers (with tasks or tutoring)
School Clean-Up (picking up trash or organizing the school)
Helping Classmates (with homework or studying)
Volunteering at Charities (like food banks or animal shelters)
Cleaning Up Parks (or other public places)
Organizing Donation Drives (collecting food or clothes)
Helping at Community Events (like fairs or festivals)
Visiting Senior Centers (spending time with the elderly)
4.Character:
Good conduct and behavior records. Teachers can recommend students based on their character, integrity, and responsibility.
Being Honest (always telling the truth)
Respecting Others (being kind to classmates, teachers, and staff)
Being Responsible (turning in homework on time, following rules)
Helping Others (offering to help without being asked)
Showing Integrity (doing the right thing, even when no one is watching)
Good Behavior in Class (respectful and well-behaved)
Reliable and Trustworthy (teachers can count on them)
Positive Role Model (sets a good example for others)
Shows Leadership through Kindness (helping others, being fair)
Consistently Follows Rules (no behavior issues)

Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above; or a score of 85 and above on report card average?

Service: 20 hours
Character: 3 recommendations
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS):
Score of 85 or higher
No more than 10 unexcused absences since the first day of school
No disciplinary concerns
Leadership: 1 role
Service: 10 hours
Character: 3 recommendations
National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS):
Score of 90 or higher
No more than 10 unexcused absences since the first day of school
Teacher recommendation
No disciplinary concerns
Leadership: 1 role
Service: 5 hours
Character: 3 recommendations
Important Due Dates
Acceptance of Volunteer hours start date: [Wednesday, September 2024]**
Application Form Opens: [Monday, December 15th 2024]
Application Deadline: [Friday, February 28th 2025]**
Notification of Acceptance: [by Monday, April 7th]
Induction Ceremony Date: [April 14th 2025]
**Volunteer hours on the activity log should be between the first day of school and the deadline of the application form.
The application form will be available on December 15th, 2024 and will remain open until February 28th. Please collect all application items by then.
